Joe Thornton, Brent Burns named to NHL Second All-Star Team

Brent Burns and Joe Thornton were each named to the NHL Second All-Star Team on Wednesday evening in a vote among members of the Professional Hockey Writers Association at the end of the regular season.

Burns and Kris Letang were the two defensemen on the second team, Thornton was the center, Vladimir Tarasenko as the right wing and Alex Ovechkin as the left wing. Ben Bishop was the goalie.

On the First All-Star Team, Drew Doughty and Erik Karlsson were the defensemen, Sidney Crosby was the center, Patrick Kane was the right wing and Jamie Benn was the left wing. Braden Holtby was the goalie.

It is the third time Thornton has been on the second team and the first time since 2007-08. It is Burns' first selection.
