Consistency. An aspect that is vital in any part of football. It is all well and good if your a talented player who can step over and over the ball but if you lack consistency you will never shine. A team cannot win a title with out severe consistency.
In recent seasons Arsenal have failed to find a strong consistency in their game and through their players. At times the Arsenal XI is brilliant but then lacklustre the next week. Arsenal boast a talented, youthful line up with quite possibly some of the smartest, fastest and strongest players. But at times some of those players do have the tendency to be inconsistent.
So who do you think is Arsenal most consistent player?
1. Bacary Sagna
When the eye catching hair defender arrived at Arsenal in 2007 from French side Auxerre, he wasn't exactly the most known footballer. But after the Frenchman completed a superb début season, in which he was selected in the PFA team of the year, Bacary Sagna was seen as one of the most consistent right backs.
Back up with another stellar, consistent season Bacary Sagna is easily one of Arsenal most consistent players. The 27 year old's work ethic and attitude to the game is one to be admired. Although the French international can be a little erratic in attack. The Arsenal defence would struggle without the talented Frenchman.
2. William Gallas
William Gallas didn't have the best start to his Arsenal career. The French centre halves first few seasons were poor and inconsistent but since last season things have changed dramatically for the former captain.
Gallas has matured and become a stronger leader to the young side. The footballing world is now witnessing one of the dominant, consistent and inform centre backs. Although at times the Arsenal defence is heavily criticized, Gallas has proven to be a consistent defender.
3. Thomas Vermaelen
Quite possibly the purchase of the season. Vermaelen first season at Arsenal and in the Premiership has been very impressive. Bought from Dutch giants Ajax for €10 million, the Belgium defender was set to take over the role left by departure of Kolo Toure.
The 24 year old continues to impress and is another one who could easily be considered Arsenal most consistent player.
4. Kieran Gibbs
Although the 20 year old has not featured much this season due to injury. Gibbs is a player who usually doesn't struggle to find consistency in his game. The midfielder cum left back showed last season he has massive potential and is able to fill in a number of roles.
5. Alexandre Song
The Cameroon man was the subject of much criticism in recent seasons but this season Song has emerged as one of the most consistent and vital players in the Arsenal lineup. The 22 year has helped paste up the whole in the defensive midfield role, which was so evident last season.
Song's new found form has allowed captain Cesc Fabregas to have a more attacking approach and has also taken of a ton of pressure of the back four with his constant tracking back. But one of the main aspects is his consistency. The consistency that was not there last season.
6. Cesc Fabregas
The captain, the leader, the best. Cesc Fabregas could be considered the heart and soul of the Arsenal attack and atmosphere. Week in week out the Spaniard comes out and gives it his all to ensure Arsenal claim all three points. Week in week out Arsenal receives rumours that the 22 year old is soon to leave to Barcelona or Real Madrid.
But nothing bothers the maestro. As long as he is wearing the red and white, Cesc Fabregas will continue to shock the footballing world.
7. Andrei Arsharvin
The little Russian came to Arsenal during the 2009 January transfer window and immediately made his mark. Most notably his stunning four goal effort in the exciting 4-4 encounter with Liverpool. Although the Russian magician isn't a week in week out goalscorer, the 28 year old is a consistent attacking threat who provides great speed and balance plus tricks where ever he is on the park.
8. Tomas Rosicky
Having only recently returned from a lengthy, lengthy injury, Tomas Rosicky has quickly reinvented himself into the Arsenal XI. Before his injury in 2008 the Czech was one of Arsenal best attackers and scorers. Since returning the footballing world has been given glimpses of those attributes.
However, the 28 year old looks to be maintaining his usual consistency and its only a matter of weeks before Tomas Rosicky really becomes himself once again.
It seemed injuries were destined to hamper Robin van Persie potentially huge career but the after an injury free 2008/2009, the footballing world had seen the player everybody knew Robin van Persie was capable of becoming.
The Dutch striker finished Arsenal player of the season plus the top scorer with 20 goals. The 26 year old also had his share of assists with only Cesc Fabregas notching more. Sadly an injury cut short his promising looking 2009/2010 but Robin van Persie is quickly becoming a consistent goalscorer.
